About Marske-by-the-Sea
- St Germain's Church in Marske contains the grave of James Cook Senior — the father of Captain James Cook — who died in 1779, the same year his famous son was killed in Hawaii. The elder Cook had moved to Marske in his old age, and his grave is marked by a simple headstone in the churchyard. The church is one of several in the Cleveland area with connections to the Cook family.
